Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation Surpasses Fundraising Target and places order for New Patient Bus
North Sydney, Nova Scotia- 1The Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation ended their 2012 Lights for Health Campaign with an astounding $54,000 raised with proceeds supporting the purchase of a new patient bus for continuing care residents and veterans of Northside General and Harbour View Hospitals. The expected arrival date of the custom bus is April 2013.
“The generosity of the community and local businesses along with the promotion from our new partnership with Cape Breton Radio was the key to us surpassing the $40,000 goal set this year,” says Daniel McKeough-Foundation Board Chair.
“Guests at the Celebration Event were treated, for the first year, to an impressive fireworks display hosted by Cape Breton HAZMAT Team. We are overwhelmed by the support from volunteers who worked tirelessly to support this campaign and we were proud to honor our thirteen year partnership with the Northside Kiwanis Golden K Club who illuminated the sculptures,” says McKeough.
The Foundation has set the Renal Dialysis Unit as their new priority for the 2013 year. New Dialysis Machines and renovations to the unit are at the top of the agenda for the Foundation. The next event in support of this priority will be the annual Valentine’s Gala which is always a fabulous event. Kintyre is set to perform on February 9th, 2013 and a vacation for two will be given away at the event.
The Northside Hospital Foundation is committed to supporting services and programs at both Northside General and Harbourview Hospitals. Along with the equipment purchases, the Foundation assists with funding for palliative care patient comfort, early cancer prevention and a senior’s day program.
